My beauty & haircare saviours on honeymoon!
Okay, I’m very late to the party on this one I admit. Summer has been so busy and fun that this draft has sat for a while. Better late than never though! Following my previous post I thought I’d break down my beauty routine on our honeymoon. I’ve picked the best ‘beauty picks’ that I swear by on our fortnight holiday.
From setting spray to hair styling and powders. It was my first two-week holiday in years so I needed to pack realistically to make sure my makeup and hair looked and felt its best. Let’s be honest you want to look your best on your honeymoon right?! So if you’re still yet to go away this year and looking for beauty recommendations for holiday, read on!
Haircare and Styling
I don’t usually feature haircare on here so this makes a change! With me going to a very hot climate I knew I needed to take care of my hair even more so than usual on holiday. I’d been eyeing up the Color Wow for quite some time so decided to invest. I got the Dream Coat Supernatural Spray and Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray. The Dream Coat claims to humidity-proof the hair. I needed this for Dubai! I used this every night after washing my hair and spritzing all over damp hair. You need to use a lot of it to work as I found on TikTok. I felt like my hair each night looked good considering so I do think this dramatically helped. I haven’t really used it since my holiday as my hair is usually okay but definitely something to consider when going on holiday.
The Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray is a game-changer though! I used this after styling my hair to add gloss and shine. It really did make my hair look more healthy and glossy without that greasy look. This is also UV protecting which makes this perfect for your sunny escapes.
For through the day whilst sunbathing I used the Charles Worthington Sunshine Protect Leave-In Spray. This is also UV protecting so helps from harmful sun exposure. It also has natural ingredients such as moringa extract to help smooth and protect. I kept this in my beach bag and spritzed throughout the day after swimming to keep my hair protected.
Face Powders
Not realising I’ve included four in this but with all different purposes. So first up we have Makeup Obsession Game Set Matte. This matte baked powder is what I used after my foundation or bb cream to set my face. It’s translucent but bakes the face, especially in hot weather. Next to it, we have a newer purchase The Beauty Crop Pore Filter. So this is an actual game-changer. It comes with a compact mirror and sponge to powder my face on the go. With the heat in Dubai, I had this out with me every night to dab on my face to prevent me from looking oily. I absolutely swear by this and use it on nights out even back at home!
For my bronzer and blush, I used my trust duo which is the Nars Summer Unrated duo. this comes with my favourite blush Orgasm and bronzer Laguna. This matte bronzer compliments my skin tone so well especially as I was tanning more over the two weeks. In comparison, the blush has the perfect pink hue with a subtle addition of shimmer to pop the face. It’s basically a blusher and highlighter in one.
Another new addition is The Beauty Crop Vitamin Babe Bronzer Trio. I know this has bronzer in it too but I actually use the highlighter the most. It’s a soft buildable highlighter powder that’s velvety. So not too shimmery not matte. So I used this most nights on holiday as I liked how subtle it was and how easily it blended.
Primers & Foundation
So for my base, I used a variety of products depending on whether it was day or night. One product I used on either was The Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Hydrating Gripping Primer. This does exactly as the title says! I applied this on my face and let it set for a couple of minutes until it became sticky. That’s when you know it’s ready for foundation or BB cream.
Throughout the day if I needed it, I’d use the Bondi Sands Face SPF 50 Tinted. This gave incredible sun protection with a light coverage of BB cream. It was just enough to hide my redness (mainly sunburn) and blemishes for a fresh look. It’s long lasting and I’ve used this on a recent holiday to Benidorm too.
On the night I used a new foundation I’m currently loving. The Revolution IRL Filter Longwear Foundation in shade F10. I’m super impressed with this! I purchased it a few months ago as a general workwear foundation and loved the coverage and longevity of it. I actually used it on my hen do and my makeup didn’t budge at all. So I knew this would be good on my honeymoon with the heat and humidity on a night. It’s a matte finish which I usually don’t go for but as it says it feels ‘breathable’.
For quick hydration, I used the Fenty Hydra Visor Moisturiser underneath my foundation as a primer. And also the Pixi On-The-Glow Sold Moisturiser. This is an all-body moisturiser that you can use on your face as well as your body and hair for an instant pick-me-up. I used it mainly on my cheeks and lips.
For the finish…
After powders, I used The Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Hydrating Dual-Phase Setting Mist. This is enriched with cherry extract and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and lock in the makeup. Which was a must to keep my makeup in place and long-lasting!
I thought I’d also pop in the fragrance that I wore on my wedding day and into my honeymoon. I wanted a classic scent that was not too overpowering but lasted a while. I ended up getting the Bulgari Rose Goldea Blossom Delight. The bottle is beautiful and complimented my wedding colour scheme and photos.
