An Everyday Makeup Look

When having a 9-5 job, I need to rely on makeup that stays put and still looks fresh from the moment I’ve put it on. So here’s my go-to products for that everyday makeup look.

With having a full time job, a question I often get asked is what foundation are you wearing? What makeup do you use? And of course you don’t want to get home from a long day to find your foundations melted away, you have mascara prints under eyes, or you just look cakey. Not good!

Anyway I thought today this is a perfect excuse to tell you my ultimate faves for what I wear each morning. You’ll probably notice some familiar products in here but you’ll also notice if you’re an avid reader, that most of these are drugstore. I always prefer to wear my high-end makeup for evening wear because lets face it, wearing expensive makeup 5 days a week will not last long and I don’t think my bank account would like it. So, I tend to use more cheaper alternatives!

Let’s get started…

Prime + Base

I always think a good moisturiser or primer is a good way of keeping your makeup put all day. I tend to mix my primers up every now and then depending what my skins like but my usual go-to is L’Oreal’s Infallible Mattifying primer. The gel consistency makes my skin feel smooth and creates a base ready for foundation. Now I’ve picked two foundations for this post, as I’m combination skin some days my skin might be dry so I’d opt for a dewy coverage – Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear or when my skins oily I’d opt for Tarte’s Amazonian Clay foundation. Both of these foundations create a full coverage with over 12 hour wear. I can rely on either of these for work but I personally love Tarte, its the perfect shade for when I have self tan on too. To set my base I use a Translucent powder from MUA. I prefer this to a spray and noticed it keeps my makeup in place for a lot longer, especially when my skins oily!

Bronze + Highlight

Now onto powders! Again, I always mix these up depending if I fancy a matte bronze, a pearl highlight or a golden one and even with my blush – matte or shimmer? But what I usually reach for / swear by is Seventeen’s Bronzing Rocks. I use this as contour or as a finish on my cheeks and it instantly gives you that fresh goddess glow. 90% time you’ll always see me wearing Mary-Lou Manizer too. I tend to wear this for daywear, as its a pretty shimmer that’s not overpowering like some highlighters. Plus I love this with my natural skintone (I wear more golden tones with self-tan). And blush, well it has to be Galifornia doesn’t it? My ultimate fave blush that just looks gorgeous on the apples of your cheeks day or night.

Brows + Eyes

I can honestly say sometimes my brows take longer than my base, is anyone else like this? They have to be perfect and sometimes a powder, gel and tint is needed. Remember when this was not a thing? Anyway for my brows I start with Freedom’s Brow Pomade which is the BEST BROW PRODUCT EVER and its the best dupe to luxe brands like ABH. I coat my brows with this to give them both a natural arch followed with powder from the L’Oreal Brow Artist Kit. The light brown is the perfect shade and I then set these in place with Benefit’s Gimme Brow – so they don’t budge. Any finally, mascara! I use soo many day-to-day but tend to keep my favourites for more night wear, as I don’t wear false lashes. A mascara I’ve been using a lot really is Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. A lot of bloggers love this and rightly so, its one of only a few drugstore products where I feel it matches up to luxe mascaras such as Urban Decay and Lancome. It’s just what I need for work, for long lashes that still look natural.

And here’s the finished Everyday Makeup Look using all the products mentioned. This is how I’d wear my makeup for a typical day in the office, might be a little much to some but I’m a beauty blogger after all and I just love applying makeup! I’m always looking out for good products that last all day so do let me know your recommendations in the comments. And let me know if you try any of these out!
