The scarfs are out, the snuffly noses have started and our summer tan is fading. But one thing we shouldn’t change this Winter, is that rosy glow. You can’t go wrong with a bit of blusher but don’t be afraid of wearing warm bronzers and highlighters even in the colder months.
My makeup looks don’t really change throughout the seasons but I know people tend to wear less bronzer in winter. These products will add the subtle glow and warm tone you need on cold mornings so you look fresh and ready to take on the day. They’re also great for night out looks too!
Liquids
If you prefer a wet formula than powders, I’ve bundled up my top three highlighters. You’ll spot a long-standing highlighter from Benefit, High Beam. This pearly pink highlighter is beautiful with a couple of drops on your cheek bones and cupids bow. It’s also very subtle enough that it’s not in your face either. If you prefer that, the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is exactly the same. The product just does everything for me, it can act as a primer or a replacement to foundation but for me I like using it on my cheek bones. I add sweep on each cheek bone and blend with my makeup sponge. It adds a lovely sheen to your face and brightens up your eyes. If you’d prefer something more towards a blusher, the Nars Illuminator in the shade Orgasm has a sparkly peach tone. It can work as a blush or bronzer depending on where you put it. Again, just add a little and use a sponge to blend.
Powders
So if powders are your thing, I’ve got some great bronzers that I continue to use in winter that are matte or glitter. The balm Bette-Lou Manizer is in between a bronzer and highlighter. As you can see in the swatch below it’s a dark golden beige shade so would fit great with a pearl highlighter. The Mac Skinfinish in the shade Cheeky Bronze is also similar but with more of a peach tone. Again a warm tone perfect for the winter months. If you prefer something more matte and little darker for contour, the Bourjois blush in the shade Santal is perfect even for paler skin tones. I couldn’t not mention two of my favourite powder highlighters. Aside from my ultimate favourite from Charlotte Tilbury, the Laura Geller Gilded Honey is absolutely beautiful if you prefer bright golden tones. It’s absolutely stunning when the sunlight catches your face. It’s a good way to still look sun-kissed in winter too. There’s also the Mac Show Gold highlighter which as an iridescent pink hue that again looks pretty when light catches your face. It’s one of them highlighters that looks pink or purple in certain lights. A must for a night-out look if you ask me!
