Ever thought of visiting Ibiza? If you fancy jetting there yourself, here’s some alternative things you can do on the party island other than the nightclub scene.
If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you may have noticed I’ve been to Ibiza before – well five times to be exact. Every time I’ve gone I’ve discovered other places and venues to visit and this year was no exception.
We went as a couple and even though we did the usual nightlife spots, there was so many other things to do. So if you’re heading to Ibiza this year or have considered it but think its all about partying (it kind of is) I’ve listed other things you can do! Such as resorts, beach clubs and restaurants.
Cotton Beach Club – Cala Tarida
If there’s one place to visit on the island it has to be Cala Tarida. It has one of the nicest private beaches with white sand and a jetty to jump off. The beach also features a luxurious beach club otherwise known as Cotton. It’s honestly Instagram goals with white and blue interior with a stunning view of the bay. Escape the heat for an hour or two with their Al a Carte menu. The food is a little on the pricey side but for the picturesque view and service, it’s totally worth it for a day-time treat.
Nassau Beach – Playa D’en Bossa
Another beautiful beach to visit is Bora Bora (Playa D’en Bossa) which is on the opposite side of the island to San Antonio. It also houses world-famous clubs such as Ushuaia and Hi Ibiza (formerly known as Space). Again a perfect place if you want to chill and sunbathe and for lunch we headed to Nassau Beach. Another beach club that had a great menu. The chicken dish was probably my favourite all holiday. It’s also really reasonable compared to Cotton Club.
We decided to get sunbeds and a parasol which is around 40 euros for the day at Sir Rocco. This is Ushuaia’s beach restaurant and it served the most amazing pineapple daquiri. It’s just a small walk from Nassau Beach and you can even get the bus back to San Antonio after 4pm for as little as 3.50 euro.
Ibiza Old Town
One place you have to visit on a night-time is Ibiza old town at Eivissa. Every time I’ve gone to Ibiza I’ve only normally stayed in San Antonio or Playa D’en Bossa so it was great to find somewhere new to visit together.
Everyone’s said how nice the area is and you have to see it for yourself. It’s actually amazing how much cheaper it is for food and drink here too with lots of tapas bars and alcohol for as little as 3 euro. I’d also recommend venturing up to the castle, the views of the bay is stunning.
Cafe Mambo – San Antonio
I know it’s probably not an alternative because if you haven’t heard of Cafe Mambo’s, then you must be living under a rock. But I have to mention this place! It’s world-famous for its sunset and great atmosphere and we decided to do this on a date night and ventured off to a lovely restaurant opposite San Antonio bay.
Villa Mercedes is another pretty venue that has an outside seating area with lush rainforest plants and a live DJ. The food was lovely and very affordable too. If you fancy somewhere nice to visit in San Antonio I’d highly recommend it – you’ll see why when you walk up to it.
Ocean Beach – San Antonio
Another recognisable location, especially on Instagram is Ocean Beach! If you’re not keen on nightclubs or fancy something a little more lively through the day – try this! The day to go personally for me is a Monday. The theme is headkandi and they have things going on all day with live Djs, dancers and a jazz band.
The atmosphere is amazing and we stayed till practically closing this year. You can make it as cheap as you like too. I got cocktails that were 13-15 euro each and even with a meal we only spent 100 euros each – thats over 8 hours!
Other things to do in Ibiza
Because like any holiday, you can’t fit everything in. I’ve also listed other alternative things that we didn’t get chance to do, but would still recommend. When we were there we seen a lot about an island offshore Ibiza which is Formentera. You can easily get a boat over to it and apparently again it has a gorgeous beach and nice places to eat and drink.
If shopping’s your thing, the Hippie Market gets talked a lot about too. I haven’t managed to go yet but I’d love to try it if I go here again.
If clubbing is your thing, my ultimate favourite club ever in Ibiza has to be Ushuaia. Everyone I’ve been with has said how amazing it is. It’s pretty much like a mini festival with an outside venue. The drinks aren’t cheap – around 18 euro for a vodka and coke ( I know) but out of all the clubs there’s just something about this place.
Ibiza will always have a place in my heart as my first ever girly holiday and now experiencing it with the other half – it truly is a magical place.
