Edinburgh Winter Wonderland

On Friday I visited Edinburgh’s Winter Wonderland. Of course it didn’t disappoint, a day filled with meeting a royal princess, a real life bath bomb and lots of mulled wine!

We travelled in style and stepped off the train straight into the sound of bagpipes, the rush of eager shoppers and festive sparkle.

I love the shops in Edinburgh, you’ve got the high street shops on Princes Street and then on George Street you’ve got more of the luxury brands such as Jo Malone.

It’s the perfect mix of sophistication and style with the beautiful architecture and crisp air. For this time of year, we couldn’t believe how warm it was. At 7pm it was still like 13 degrees, really warm for Scotland?!

We headed to Harvey Nichols and I just love gazing over all the designer beauty and fashion. I finally found the Jimmy Choo Cinderella shoes…

The real life Cinderella shoes they used in the film, like seriously how beautiful?! They can be yours if you’ve got a spare £3,000 hanging around. So so sparkly.. Oh my days.

Anyway after a bit of retail therapy and treating myself to ANOTHER Michael Kors bag, we had a pit stop in The Dome.

If you are ever visiting Edinburgh, I 100% recommend going here for a meal. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever eaten. The decorations are out of this world and its just like going back in time, we went for a cocktail in here and it was just so lovely to sit and admire the views. It really feels like your staying in a mansion.

We left The Dome and started walking up Georges Street when we realised there was something going on…

Yeah I just happened to bump into Princess Anne! The Queens daughter was visiting The Royal Society of Edinburgh. There was lots of police and posh cars around and we asked what was going on, we decided to wait and we were so lucky to have front row views. How crazy just walking down the street and seeing a royal?! Can’t say that happens regularly can you?

After a couple more hours shopping I happened to also bump into a real life bath bomb! I didn’t stop laughing when I got this photo took, the guy was so lovely and up for giving everyone hugs. He’s dressed as ‘Shoot for the stars‘ bath bomb and its actually my fave out of Lush’s Christmas collection.

I obviously went inside and bought some more for over Christmas time.

So Edinburgh’s Winter Wonderland is filled with food and gift huts and lots of amusements oh and beer gardens.

We went around the festive huts and picked up some lovely pieces for the tree, I had a Nutella crepe and even some mulled cider in spiced plum – it was so yummy!

The place is literally a sweet tooth’s dream – pancakes, waffles, chocolates and fudge every other stall. It’s just nice to walk around and get yourself in the holiday spirit.

The good thing about this is, its all close together, you’ve got ice rinks and amusements followed by bars and stalls and then the high street shops over the road. It’s just in a perfect location.

We only went for the day so as you can imagine it flew by. We also had a gorgeous Christmas Dinner in the Waverley Hotel and before we knew it, it was time to travel home.

It’s so nice going first class and if you book plenty in advance you can find amazing deals.

If you haven’t been to Edinburgh I’d recommend going this time of year for the Winter Wonderland or going to their Fringe Comedy festival in August. It’s a wonderful city and I’m excited to return next year.
